The 5th and 7th graders once again continued their winning ways over the weekend. Both teams went undefeated in the Luau tournament in Lake Stevens (combined 9 – 0).
The 5th graders won the championship game by 14 points while playing with only 6 players AND having to play the final game with no break after the semi-final game. No doubt the twice a week conditioning and training paid huge dividends for them. Congratulations Coach Ron and the 5th grade team.
The 7th graders had just as an impressive weekend. They went 4 – 0 in pool play beating Seattle Pirates by 10, Total Package by 16, SCBA by 17 and Bellevue Saints by 18 to advance to the finals. In the finals against Sportz N Skillz out of Lynden, the boys held off a talented and huge team with a 55 – 54 win!!! In the finals Sportz and Skillz tried three or four different players to guard Zach Lawson but each defender was no match for the “Z-man”. Lawson finished with 25 points and a clutch free throw by Benny Ortega with 4 seconds broke the tie and helped clinch the victory. Congratulations Coach Andrew, Coach Tam and the entire 7th grade team.
